A versatile gallery with a long history of providing fine art, custom framing, and appraisal services, Bonfoey Gallery is seeking to add a professional Framer to our team. As an Art Framer at Bonfoey Gallery, you will play a pivotal role in our framing department. We are looking for an individual with exceptional woodworking skills and an eye for precision to create custom frames and moldings. Bonfoey will provide a robust onboarding process to ensure a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Frame Construction: Cutting and joining frame molding, from raw stock to manufactured lengths to hand-gilded finishes, ensuring precision and quality in every frame.
- Material Management: Ordering, organizing, and conducting quality checks of materials and supplies necessary for framing projects.
- Equipment Operation: Utilizing and maintaining tools and machinery such as the Pistorius miter saw, Cassese underpinner, pneumatic nail gun, and various hand tools to complete framing tasks.
- Measurement and Cutting: Accurately measuring, estimating lengths, and cutting and joining strainers and stretchers to create customized frames.
- Woodworking Skills: Applying basic woodworking skills to frame construction, with the potential for hand carving tasks as well.
- Frame Package Assembly: Understanding and executing frame package assembly, ensuring each piece meets the desired specifications.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in framing, chop, or woodworking is required.
- Proficiency in the use and maintenance of framing equipment, including the Pistorius miter saw, Cassese underpinner, pneumatic nail gun, and hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
- Basic woodworking skills are a must; hand carving skills are a plus.
- Understanding of frame package assembly.
- Ability to work effectively within deadlines and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Excellent communication skills to understand and follow project specifications, including work orders, drawings, and supply lists.
