M. Katherine Hurley is a Cleveland, Ohio native where her family (Winterich) has been working in the liturgical arts for many generations. Katherine has studied art and art history in Europe and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the College of Mt. St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1974. She has continued her studies by attending the Cincinnati Art Academy and workshops with internationally known artist Wolf Kahn.
Since 1976 M.Katherine has been a resident and practicing artist in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her work has received numerous awards and is part of private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Europe. She has been featured several times in the Pastel Journal Magazine and published in "Pure Color: the Best of Pastel" published by North Light Books. The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio held a solo exhibit of her pastels in 2005.
As an arts advocate, Katherine is a teacher and mentor to many and regularly speaks to students, art enthusiasts and organizations including the Cincinnati Art Museum, Taft Museum of Art and The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown. Her hope is to "pass forward" the dream. She has three talented children of her own.
